Biodiversity Sustainable Action Plan

Even small NGOs can (and should) take part in city policy

In 2011 the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) was extended to HK, meaning that HK could finally develop its own biodiversity action plan (the UK's and China's were both published in 1994).  Better late than never!

Over 2013/14 TTT took part in the NGO Focus Group alongside established groups including WWF-HK, Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, Bloom Association and HK Birdwatching Society, brilliantly coordinated by Yan-yan at Civic Exchange.

Some 100+ experts and NGOs worked together to create a huge wishlist of 400+ recommendations which was finally whittled down to 23 actions in HK's first Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan 2016-2021.

In HK you can find more species of coral than the Caribbean!
